Playboys make the best saints

St Augustine was undoubtedly one of the worlds most notorious sinners(by his own admission), but what makes him one of the worlds most astounding saints was not his repentance, nor remorse for his sins but rather the orienting of his violent passions, overflowing emotions, and strong urges toward God. That's what clinched his sainthood. The fact that we have strong urges and emotions doesn't make us sinners, it's the orientation of those emotions and urges. Properly oriented, they too make us into saints, if we but allow it.

The pure of heart

Blessed are the clean of heart,
                                            for they will see God.

The organ to see God is the heart. (Jesus of Nazareth by Pope Benedict XVI, p92 )  I often ask people, when do you see God?

I saw him yesterday during prayer & mass, spoke to him and he spoke to me. Last night in the car as I  drove home, exhausted from Raphy's meet, he was there. When I bathed a Peach at 1 am, he was there. He even tucked me into bed. When I awoke this morning, he was there. As I fell in love with my husband all over again (and he's not even here, he's in Minnesota), it was him again. I'm not saying I'm pure of heart, but the organ for seeing God IS the heart. So when do you see God?
